“I had no idea I was thinking that.”

This is something I hear all the time from my clients. I even say this myself when I am being coached. With the average person having some 60,000 thoughts per day, you can easily guess that most of them happen in the unconscious part of our mind. We unknowingly repeat beliefs over and over that we don’t even realize we have however, we can clearly see the effects of those beliefs in our lives. All of us have this to contend with, this constantly flowing stream of unconscious thoughts simply because we are human beings with human brains.

Root cause analysis is the process of discovering the true source of a problem in order to identify the appropriate solution. It is far more effective to solve the root cause than to continually chase the individual symptoms of the bigger problem. This is how I coach with individual clients. Once my client has the awareness of the root cause of the problem, it is MUCH easier to find lasting solutions.

The root cause of a problem is a belief that we didn’t even know we had. That’s where an outside perspective brings that awareness.
